Family conflicts, school pressures, losing relationships and important people, and finding identity can be hard for kids.
What’s harder is when there is nowhere to turn. A new suicide and crisis hotline number, 988, was recently created to support young people who are in crisis.

We visited with Erika Koopmans, Licensed Mental Health Professional, to talk about some of the challenges young people are struggling with and a few suggestions to help navigate the world around us all. Just a quick note, part of our discussion does address the topic of suicide. At the end of our discussion, you will find Erika’s suggested readings, If you or someone you know is struggling, call, text or chat 988 or visit 988lifeline. And if you need help right away, call 911.
